From Nicole Witherbee, President & CEO, John T. Gorman Foundation:
On the first anniversary of the Lewiston shooting, our thoughts at the John T. Gorman Foundation are with the victims of that terrible night, as well as the families and friends who continue to grieve their loss. We know there is much healing still to be done in the community and remain committed to aiding in its recovery.
We are grateful to the many organizations, leaders, and other individuals from across the state who came together in the wake of this tragedy to offer support to those affected. We are especially thankful for our partners in the Lewiston area. Over the last year, they have met increased needs for services and supports with speed and compassion, even as they suffered their own losses and encountered new challenges.
In that dark time a year ago, we knew the resilience of this community would be tested. But from our years of working with our partners in Lewiston, we were confident that it would stand tall – and it has. Today, the John T. Gorman Foundation is honored to stand in solidarity with this community as it continues to heal from this tragedy and strives to be one of the best places in Maine to live, work, and thrive.
