As the Division Director for Behavioral Health programs, Thomas oversees inpatient and outpatient services in both mental health and addiction. He serves on the hospital’s Accountable Care Organization (ACO) steering committee as a member of the hospital’s leadership team along with leaders from across Mid Coast Health Services to bring the behavioral and mental health perspective to the strategic plan. Thomas works to integrate behavioral health services across the organization in the emergency department, primary care, pediatrics, women’s health and maternity and throughout the community through partnerships with law enforcement, schools and other institutions and organizations.
Prior to this position, he worked at Sweetser in several positions including overseeing the administration of school-based therapy services, community and family support services and juvenile justice clinical teams at the two youth detention facilities in Maine. As a trained child and family therapist, Thomas has extensive experience providing counseling, crisis intervention and mental health services to children and families.
He is currently on the Board of Directors of the United Way of Mid Coast and the Success By Six Council and has served on the Community Health and Wellness Council, Board of Directors at Independent Association, and the West Bath Drug Court team. Thomas has an MA in Counseling Psychology from Antioch New England Graduate School and a BA in Psychology and Zoology from the University of Maine at Orono. He has been a licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC) since 1996 and a certified clinical supervisor (CCS) since 2005.
